ASSAM: JOURNALISTS FROM ASEAN COUNTRIES VISIT GUWAHATI

‘Visit in the State for a good cause’.

A team of twenty journalists from ten ASEAN countries arrived in Guwahati on a three-day visit under India-ASEAN Exchange programme.

The team included two journalists each from countries such as Malaysia, Cambodia, Brunei, Indonesia, Laos PDR, Thailand, Singapore, Vietnam, Myanmar and Philippines. Thirteen of them are women.

The delegation met Additional Chief Secretary to the Government of Assam in-charge of Act East Policy Ravi Capoor.

After the meeting, they discussed the age-old historical relations between Assam and ASEAN countries. Capoor stressed on exchange programmes between the states in the Northeast and ASEAN countries in the fields of culture and education.

The team of the journalists stressed on better relations and proper coordination among the ASEAN countries for overall development of the region. Later, they visited the Srimanta Sankardeva Kalakshetra and was highly pleased at the exhibits of Assam’s cultural heritage.
