The 75th Biennial session of the Asom Sahitya Sabha has formally begun from January 31, Friday in Sualkuchi.
Around 3,000 litterateurs, including locals and foreigners, are expected to throng Sualkuchi to attend the conference. The organizing committee has set up this year’s Asom Sahitya Sabha with a budget of Rs 1.6 crore.

Former Director General of Police of Assam, Kuladhar Saikia will take over as the new president of the Sahitya Sabha. Saikia, who is also a recipient of Sahitya Akademi Award, will assume responsibility for two years.
Today’s schedule of the Sahitya Sabha will begin with a ceremony observing Me Dam Me Phi. The inaugural ceremony will be followed by a slew of different functions. A trade fair has also been set up, with the aim of attracting the visitors.

On Thursday, Paramananda Rajbongshi, the outgoing president inaugurated the main gate of Dr Mamoni Raisam Goswami memorial book fair.
