In a bid to make temple darshan more convenient for the people of Assam, the state Government is constructing a Borongabari-Kalyani Mandir Road under Asom Darshan, an initiative of the Assam Tourism department.

Today, the project was flagged off by Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. The Minister took to Twitter to inform that the project is now underway. "Glad to inaugurate ₹10 cr project ~ construction of Borongabari-Kalyani Mandir Road under Asom Darshan and reconstruction of Sri Sri Maa Kalyani Mandir. The new road will make travel more efficient", he wrote on Twitter.
The Assam Finance Minister was also joined by other BJP stalwarts such as Pallab Lochan Das, Utpal Bora, etc.

It may be mentioned here that the Asom Darshan scheme, which was announced by the Finance Minister in the last Budget session, is an initiative to develop and publicise various places of tourist interest, including those blessed with natural beauty as well as those of religious or historical importance, in a "focused manner".
It may be mentioned here that under the scheme, the Assam Government has sanctioned Rs. 150 crore for improving the condition of road linking visitors to tourist, historic, religious, and spiritual destinations.
