Assam: 16-Year-Old Coronavirus Patient Succumbs to Death, Toll Rises to 2

Guwahati, May 7, 2020:

Deepika Nath, a 16-year-old girl, has reportedly succumbed to death on Thursday in Guwahati's B Barooah Cancer Institute Colony

According to reports, she was detected as positive when her body was tested for the virus. Some of her family members are also said to be have contracted the coronavirus, we have been informed.

Four people in Guwahati city, the commercial hub of Northeast India, have tested positive for the coronavirus. With this, the number of detections in Assam in a single day has risen to 8 and the tally of cases has risen to 53.

Assam Finance and Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma who tweeted out about the development said that one of the infected persons has come from outside Assam, and is in home quarantine, while 3 are from Guwahati city itself.
