Assam: 17 Students Expelled for ‘Cheating’ During HSLC Exam

Dhubri, February 10, 2020:

Seventeen students have been expelled on the very first day of the High School Leaving Certificate or HSLC exam on Monday in Dhubri district.

The seventeen students who were expelled on the first day of their exams were appearing for their HSLC at the two centres, Raijhora Higher Secondary School and Bahalpur and Salkocha Higher Secondary School.

Ten students were from the Raijhora Higher Secondary School exam centre and seven were caught at the Salkocha Higher Secondary School centre.

It may be mentioned here that the Secondary Education Board of Assam, SEBA, had earlier announced that this year strict measures would be taken against students caught in cheating during their exams. It had said that the students engaged in cheating, carrying mobile phones and failing to obey invigilators would be facing suspension for the next three years.

This year, a total of 3,58,446 students will be taking up the 2020 HSLC exam across 860 centers of the state today. The authorities have installed CCTV cameras and signal jammers so that the students sincerely appear for their exams.
