Assam: 19-year old from Barpeta raped and murdered in Bengaluru, MP demands action against culprit

BARPETA: Barpeta MP Abdul Khaleque on Thursday requested Karnataka CM B.S. Yediyurappa to provide justice for the student from the Barpeta district of Lower Assam who was brutally gang-raped and murdered in Bengaluru. M P Khaleque wrote a letter to the Karnataka CM wherein he sought necessary action against the culprits.

Khaleque in his letter further requested the government to take necessary action for the safety and security of all other students and working professionals from Assam residing temporarily at Karnataka.

In the letter, Khaleque wrote, “I request Karnataka Government to take all the necessary action against the culprit and urge you to arrest all the culprit as soon as possible. I would also like to appreciate your government for arresting two culprits.”

“I request the Government of Karnataka to take necessary action for the safety and security of all the other students and working professionals from Assam residing temporarily at the state of Karnataka,” he further.

On Wednesday, a 19-year-old nursing student from Assam was allegedly raped and murdered in Bengaluru.

According to reports, the prime accused, Anisur Rehaman (21), who took the victim to a hospital in Yelahanka on Wednesday, has been arrested.

The accused was known to the girl and she was brought dead to the hospital.

 Te girl had joined a Bengaluru-based college and had arrived in the city on Monday and the admission was done through Anisur.

Police in Bengaluru have registered a case under sections 376 (rape) and 302 (murder) of the IPC on Wednesday on the basis of the FIR filed by the landlord and an investigating is on.

“We will know more after the post-mortem is conducted. One of the accused — Anisur Rahman — has been arrested and preliminary investigation suggests a case of rape and murder,” said a police official from Byadarahalli police station.

The police official said, “We have found that both of them are from Assam and they were possibly friends and the victim’s father knew the accused. The woman had just reached Bengaluru this week to start her nursing course and we are investigating what she did from the time she reached here.”
