Assam recorded 1980 COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours. The state conducted 34,102 tests on Sunday, 30th August. However, the positivity rate was 5.80 percent.
The Health Minister of the state Himanta Biswa Sarma took to his twitter handle and wrote, “Alert ~ 1980 #COVID cases detected today out of 34102 tests done in last 24 hours Positivity Rate- 5.80% Kamrup M- 453, Nagaon- 239, Jorhat- 134, Cachar- 107
Total cases 105774
Recovered 82510
Active cases 22965
Meanwhile, Assam witnessed 1417 recoveries in the last 24 hours which took the total discharged tally to 83927 patients. Currently, only 21548 cases are active in the state.

On the 30th of August, Seven patients succumbed to death taking the death toll to 296. The deceased patients are Late Bidyadeep Bhuyan (48), Late Kiran Bora (50) of Golaghat; Late Nipjyoti Baruah (48), Late Md Sohrabuddin Ahmed (70) of Kamrup M; Late Ramila Sutradhar (45), Late Sachin Chandra Brahma (58) of Chirang; Late Bhaskar Bijoy Gupta (50) of Cachar
Informing about the demises the health minister tweeted, “Demise of 7 Covid parients~ Late Bidyadeep Bhuyan (48), Late Kiran Bora (50) of Golaghat; Late Nipjyoti Baruah (48), Late Md Sohrabuddin Ahmed (70) of Kamrup M; Late Ramila Sutradhar (45), Late Sachin Chandra Brahma (58) of Chirang; Late Bhaskar Bijoy Gupta (50) of Cachar RIP.”
