At least twenty-four organizations staged a mass demonstration in Diphu, demanding the deletion of illegal non-tribal people from the Voters’ list of the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC).
The indigenous organizations have demanded the exclusion of the illegal non-tribal people from voting on the basis of the Sixth Schedule of the Indian Constitution.

It may be mentioned here that the demand for deletion was based on Paragraph 20 of the Sixth Schedule and rules of KAAC under Paragraphs 2 and sub-paragraph 7 of the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution
The organizations demanded the restoration of the tribal customary land laws under Paragraph 4. They have urged to form traditional villages under Paragraph 3, sub Paragraph 1 and Clauses E, F, G, H, I and J of the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution.
President of the United Karbi Students’ Association (UKSA), Ratan Terang said, “More than 2. 5 lakh illegal immigrants & Non - tribal should be immediately deported from Karbi Anglong by the KAAC CEM Tuliram Ronghang-led government.”

The organizations have warned of further protests in the days to come if their demand for forming new electoral rules are not fulfilled.
