Assam: 3.5 Kgs of Suspected Opium Recovered from 'Kamrup-Express' Train

Guwahati, December 27, 2019:

As much as 3.5 kilograms of suspected opium was recovered on Friday from the 15960 Down Kamrup Express train by the Guwahati Railway Police.

The 3.5 kilograms of suspected opium was recovered from the possession of an individual who has been identified as Sahdev Bishnoi (aged 40). He is a resident of Jodhpur district of Rajasthan.

According to police sources, Bishnoi was travelling from Dibrugarh to Coachbihar. A case has been registered against the accused under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

It is to be mentioned here that on December 25, as many as 41000 WY tablets (Yaba Tablets) were seized from the possession of two individuals during a search operation at Makhanagar-Digli forest village.

The accused have been identified as Abdul Hannan (41yrs) and Abdul Kalam Azad (20yrs).

A case has been registered against the same under the NDPS Act.

On the other hand, on December 26, a huge quantity of contraband drugs worth over Rs 1.21 crore has been recovered from a vehicle at Tengnoupal check post in Manipur by Assam Rifles.

The drug was found hidden in the handbags of lady passengers aboard the vehicle. The lady passengers have been identified as Hatneilhing Singson (18) and Hoikholhing (35).
