DHUBRI: The Sikh Pratinidhi Board Eastern Zone is all set to organise this year’s Shaheedi Divas (Martyrdom's day) of Guru Teg Bahadur from ensuing Tuesday to Friday.
Shaheedi Divas of the 9th Sikh Guru will be observed in a moderate way, keeping in view of the Covid Protocol. The board has decided to avoid holding a mela (fair) that is arranged every year to commemorate the event.
More than 50 thousand people every year from all over the country as well as abroad throng into Dhubri Sahib Gurudwara to participate in the Shaheedi Divas. “Looking at the Covid situation we have decided that this time we will keep Shaheedi Divas simple and to avoid gathering there will not be more than ten thousand people in the Gurudwara to commemorate the occasion”, said Gurbinder Singh, Manager of Gurudwara.
Singh added that this year they are allowing only limited devotees from outside of Assam to participate in the 346th Martyrdom Anniversary of Guru Teg Bahadur and limited shops will be allowed to sell religious items.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sharma has confirmed to participate in the 346th Shaheedi Divas of Guru Teg Bahadur, on Monday. Regarding the CM's visit the Board members stated that no special arrangements are made, "He will come as a devotee in our Gurudwara, and we are honoured that he kept our invitation".
