Assam: 4 more COVID-19 death recorded today, total tally exceeds to 92

Four more COVID-19 patients have lost their battle against pandemic today- Shri Bimal Paul (78) from Cachar, Smt Hema Devi (77) from Tinsukia and Dr S.A.W. Hussain (85) & Smt Debari Karmakar (40) from Jorhat, Assam.

State Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted regarding

Out of 22,876 tests were conducted, only 1371 were detected positive for the lethal virus in the last 24 hours, state Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma stated. Of the 1371 confirmed cases, 295 were reported from Kamrup (Metro) district and 221 from Kamrup (Rural) district. Meanwhile, A total of 1216 patients were discharged on Tuesday.

With these the total number of COVID-19 cases has gone up to 34,947; of which 8,238 are still active and 26618 have recovered.

Meanwhile, the death toll has gone up to 88 with two more COVID-19 deaths. The deceased are Dulu Rani Sarkar (70) and Hemanta Buragohain (50). They both were from Kamrup (Metro) and admitted at GMCH, Guwahati.

The COVID-19 positivity rate was 6.98 percent on July 24th, 2020 which was 5.25 percent on July 23rd, 2020, 5 percent on July 20th, 2020 and 9.2 percent on July 21st, 2020.

The state crossed 20,000-mark in COVID-19 cases on July 16th, 2020 while crossed the 1000-mark in 60 days. It reported the first case on March 31st, 2020.

India COVID-19 cases so far

India has recorded 14,83,156 confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 33,425 deaths. Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Delhi and Gujarat have reported the highest number of cases. However, infections are rising rapidly in states like Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Uttar Pradesh. Yet, India’s recovery rate continues to rise and now stands at 64.2 percent.

Among the states, Maharashtra is the first state to cross 13 thousand deaths. It has recorded 147896 active corona cases, 221944 cured and 13883 deaths. The western state is followed by Delhi and Tamil Nadu. Delhi has 10994 active corona cases, 116372 cured and 3853 deaths. Tamil Nadu has 54896 active cases, 3571 deaths. Gujarat with 13146 active COVID-19 cases, 41380 cured and 2348 deaths.
