Assam: 58.9 Grams of Heroin Seized in Kokrajhar District

Kokrajhar, October 2, 2019:

Based on secret intel, a team of Assam Police searched a house in Ganga Hall road under Kokrajhar Police Station last evening and seized 58.9 grams of heroin.

The heroin was seized from the possession of Rinok Narzary (aged 25) a resident of Muthambil under Gossaigaon Police Station in Assam, and Mondip Narzary (aged 24), belonging to Kokrajhar.

Apart from 58.9 grams of heroin, 45 small-sized plastic containers, 8 medium sized plastic, aluminium foil, 3 mobile handsets with SIM cards, 8 lighters, and a Ford EcoSport vehicle were also seized from the two suspects.

The menace of drug abuse is alarmingly on the rise in Assam. The increasing number of de-addiction and rehabilitation centres in the city of Guwahati is testimony to the increasing number of the drug addicts in the State.
