Assam: 5th Amur Falcon Festival Begins at Umrangso

Dima Hasao, November 16, 2019:

The 5th Amur Falcon festival kicked off at Umrangso in Dima Hasao district of Assam, and the inauguration was done by Minister of Health, Assam, Pijush Hazarika. The first session of the Amur Falcon festival was held in the year 2015.

Thousands of migratory birds on their journey from Siberia to South Africa take rest for 45 days at the bank of Kapili river at Umrangso in Dima Hasao district, in the month of October and November.

The three-day program will also have cultural evenings where the artists like Papon, Subashna Dutta will perform and fashion shows will be held, where national and international models will be participating.

Meanwhile, Pijush Hazarika said that Rs. 180 crore has been sanctioned for the Lanka-Umrangso road development and after the tender, the work will start soon. Hailing the beauty of Dima Hasao, Hazarika said that “Umrangso is the most beautiful place I have visited.”
