Assam: AAMSU protests against attacks on religious minorities in Bangladesh

The All Assam Minorities Student's Students' Union (AAMSU) on Wednesday has staged a protest on the against those behind attacks on Hindu temples and Durga Puja in Bangladesh.

GUWAHATI: The All Assam Minorities Student's Students' Union (AAMSU) on Wednesday has staged a protest on the against those behind attacks on Hindu temples and Durga Puja in Bangladesh.

The Student's body protested in front of the Bangladesh embassy in Guwahati.

It has expressed its grief and anguish over the atrocities on religious minorities in a letter to the Prime Minister of Bangladesh.

The student body said, "Brutal attacks on minority community, damages of their properties and

religious places of worship is highly condemnable. It's obligatory on Your Government to protect

lives, properties and religious places of worships of minority communities in Bangladesh".

It said that it is hopeful that Bangladesh will stick to the founding principle of secularism and vision of its

founding father Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in respect of rights of minorities.

It further added that the religious fanatics should not be allowed to torture the minorities and infringe their rights.

It urged to take all necessary steps to protect the lives, properties and religious places of worships of the minorities in Bangladesh.

A after series of attacks on the Hindu minority took place in the neighbouring country between October 12 and October 17. Reportedly the series of attacks took place after alleged disrespect of the Quran at a Puja Pandal.
