Assam: AASAA submits memorandum for various problems faced by Tea Garden residents

MARGHERITA: All Adivasi Students Association of Assam(AASAA) Tinsukia District Committee on Saturday submitted a memorandum to the Advisor of McLeod Russell India limited Margherita Tea Estate for various burning problems which Tea Garden people are suffering since many decades.

Ramanus Lakra General Secretary of AASAA Tinsukia District Committee said that since 75 years of Our Country's Indepedence Tea Garden people of Assam are exploited, cheated and deprived from their basic rights which only during Election period Political parties leaders come to Tea Garden areas to get votes from us.

It is very unfortunate that Tea Garden workers people of Assam who are the Backbone of State Economy are living a pathetic life because of Gender Discrimination alleged Ramanus Lakra.

“AASAA since its formation has been raising our voice for the development Tea Garden workers of Assam and we demand to the Advisor of McLeod Russell India limited Margherita Tea Garden that to Construct the Margherita

Dirok-Lekhajan road,Margherita to Namtok - Philkhaana road which is in deplorable condition where many a times pregnant women gave birth to baby at road side itself, To provide Jobs to Educated Tea Garden youth of Margherita Tea Estate, Dehing Tea Estate, Namdang Tea Estate and Dirok Tea Estate where many Retired Tea Garden workers of this Tea Estate work through Boucher pay scale, To Provide Doctors at Margherita Tea Estate, Dirok Tea Estate, Namdang Tea Estate and Dehing Tea Estate where there is only one Doctor working Day and Night and To construct the quarters,Latrine and Bathrooms of Margherita Tea Estate, Dirok Tea Estate, Dehing Tea Estate, Namdang Tea Estate and other Tea Estate of Margherita Circle as since many decades Management has not done any renovation and repair works which Tea Garden workers any how living at this Deplorable Tea Garden quarters,”said Ramanus Lakra.
