Demand for a separate state Bodoland has been suspended for an "indefinite period of time", Lawrence Islary, the newly-elected General Secretary of the All Bodo Students' Union (ABSU) informed Inside Northeast on Saturday, February 15.

Talking to us over the phone, Islary said that after the signing of the tripartite pact between the Bodo organizations and the Government, the demand for a separate has been withdrawn by the student body, that was one of the key signatories of the Accord.
Islary separate state demand was suspended on February 12 during a special convention. "Look, the ABSU demands this the NDFB. In the context of the current political scenario and to ensure peace UPPL party. We want all 4 groups to stay together so that that all the clauses of the BTR can be implemented", Islary informed.

"However, much depends on the leaders themselves...whether they want to stay in politics or not. All of the leaders are in discussions", he said.
