Assam: Anti-CAA protesters sent to quarantine, KMSS cries conspiracy

In lieu of the 6 months of the CAA being passed in December 2019, anti-CAA protests were held in parts of the state from upper to lower Assam. Along with that, protesters demanded the release of Akhil Gogoi along with Dharjya Konwar, Bittu Sonowal and Manash Konwar.

Since it was a spontaneous protest, many of them didn't take permission for the protests as such they have been taken to the police station under violation of 144 IPC. Even in Sivsagar Student Mukti leader Ritumoni Hazarika, Manas Dutta, KMSS Sivsagar's Pranay Hazarika, Rubul Ali and Gautam Bezbaruah arrested and have been taken to Sivsagar PS.

However, things took a different turn when in few places as per reports protesters were taken to quarantine centres under the violation of Epidemic Act.

In Mirza, Kamrup 13 out of 20 people were sent to the Palasbari PS initially. Post 5 pm, they were taken to the quarantine centre in Dora Kohora by a private vehicle under the cause of violation of social distancing as per sources. Following this, people started protesting inside the quarantine centre and were planning to resort to hunger strikes. Finally, after the intervention of Kamaplur magistrate, the people were given a seal and were assigned under homes quarantine.

Speaking to Inside Northeast, KMSS senior leader Mukut Deka said, "It is a government conspiracy to curb the anti-CAA voices. They have sent healthy people to quarantine centre to get infected from others".

Now, the question is the people did violate the law by not taking permission and were correctly sent to the police station. But, why were they sent to the corona centre afterwards even though they claim proper social distance norms were followed. Can the viral pandemic be used further to subjugate the voices of the anti-protesters further in Assam or is it a genuine case of misconduct?
