ASSAM: ASSISTANT ENFORCEMENT INSPECTOR ARRESTED BY CID

13 July 2018:

Two Assistant Enforcement Inspectors of the Assam Transport department has been arrested by Criminal Investigation Department of Assam Police from Guwahati on Thursday. The two arrested officials are identified as Anuraag Shandilya and Tapuram Bora.

The CID initiated an inquiry against the illegal coal syndicate on March. The CID team seized two overloaded coal trucks in Beltola in the first week of March for which the two alleged officers were responsible for checking the trucks but following anomalies, the CID filed a complaint and started investigating the matter.

Talking to InsideNe Dipak Das said that “they were called for interrogation yesterday. Both the officials were on interim bail and as the CID. We forwarded an application against the bail at the Gauhati High Court, their bails were rejected and the team arrested the last night after receiving objectionable statements from them. Today they will be produced in the court and will be taken under remand.”
