GUWAHATI: The Assam State Transport Corporation (ASTC) recently announced to provide special buses for senior citizens and women of the state free of cost.

As per Anand Prakash Tiwari, Managing Director of ASTC, these special buses in Guwahati will be called pink buses.

According to sources, ASTC is expected to start the service in the city in the beginning of January.

The roll-out will be done in a phased manner, sources added.

Meanwhile, the Assam Chief Minister will inaugurate the River Cruise at the Brahmaputra river bank near Bogibeel bridge in Dibrugarh tomorrow.

The cruise named as "Brahmaputra'r Mukuta" is a project taken up by ABCD Exploration with the initiative of two local youths  Dhiraj Bikas Gogoi and Uday Shankar Mohan.

The two-story cruise has been designed with the facilities like AC rooms with Gyser and attached bathroom/toilets, Conference hall, Kitchen, Dinning hall etc.

Tourists can enjoy the scenic beauty throughout the journey up to the places like  Majuli, Kaziranga, Dibru Saikhowa, Guwahati etc.
