Assam BJP are 'Assamese Agents' of Central Govt for Supporting CAB: Anti-Citizenship Bill Forum

Guwahati, October 14, 2019:

The Forum Against Citizenship Act Amendment Bill on Monday once again voiced out against the contentious Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2016 and called state BJP members as 'Assamese Agents' for supporting the Bill.

Addressing the media, the members of the forum said that people of Assam under no circumstances will accept the Bill, as it poses a great threat to the indigenous people of Assam. They categorically demanded the Central Government to scrap the Bill, further adding that the Bill violates the Clause 14 of the Indian Constitution.

Calling the State BJP members as the Assamese agents of the Centre, they added that Assamese people have set history in fighting for their rights in the past. The political parties who are greedy of power and supporting the BJP for this will be responsible for the outcome, they alleged.

Further, the forum added that the other North-Eastern states have voiced out against the Bill, but the Assam BJP leaders have remained mum.

They have called for all the stakeholders of the society to join them to oppose this Bill and protest against it.
