Assam BJP Holds 'Crucial Meet' amid Nationwide Protests against CAA

Guwahati, December 21, 2019:

Amid the widespread nationwide protests against the contentious Citizenship (Amendment) Act in the state of Assam, a crucial legislative party meeting of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is currently underway at the Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal’s official residence in Brahmaputra Guest house.

Reportedly, the crucial legislative meeting will be followed by a cabinet meeting. The BJP MLAs of the state have rushed to the legislative meeting, which is expected to discuss the prevailing situation in Assam.

It is to be mentioned here that the state of Assam is witnessing sustained and intensified protests against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act with the participation of mass people.

Earlier, on December 19, a 22 MLA-delegation had reached Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal’s residence at Brahmaputra Guest House in Guwahati, demanding the immediate implementation of Clause 6 of the Assam Accord.

The BJP leaders met the CM in demand for immediate implementation of Clause 6 of the Assam Accord, and the provision of safeguards to the “Assamese” language and culture.
