Bharatiya Janata Party legislator from Sadiya constituency, Bolin Cheita has been tested positive for COVID-19 in Assam on July 11th, 2020. He becomes the third legislator of the State to have been infected by a COVID-19.
As per information, his swab test results came on Saturday morning. He was suffering from cough and fever for the last few days. Chetia is presently undergoing treatment at Tinsukia Civil Hospital.

Earlier, BJP legislators from Patharkandi, Krishnendu Paul and Narayan Deka of Borkhetri were tested COVID-19 positive.
Assam reported another spike of 936 COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours taking the state’s total to 15,536, Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma informed. A total of 521 out of 936 confirmed COVID-19 cases were reported in Guwahati alone.
Out of 15,536 total confirmed COVID-19 cases, 5650 are active and 9848 have been cured and discharged so far while death toll has gone up to 35.
Assam has crossed the 1000-mark in 60 days. It reported the first case on March 31st, 2020.
Assam has the highest COVID-19 cases in the Northeast India followed by Tripura.
