A massive BJP bike rally was carried out by Assam Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in Nazira sub-division under Sivasagar district. However, the rally has entered the discussion for all the wrong reasons. Tensions came to the fore when the rally was confronted by Congress MLA Debabrata Saikia and his legion of supporters, who tried to halt the rally.
The BJP bike rally, carried out by the party's heavyweights in the state such as Biswa Sarma and Kamakhya Prasad Tasa, was confronted by a Congress answer to the saffron party's show of power.
The rally ran into further trouble after the All Assam Students' Union (AASU) members greeted the convoy with black flags, emblematic of their resentment for the BJP party's amendment of the Citizenship Act.

It may be mentioned that the rally coincided with the ongoing HSLC exams, which was decried by Saikia, who called upon the Government to look into the matter and also penalize 'helmetless' bikers who were expected to take part in the rally.
Taking note of this, Leader of Opposition, Debabrata Saikia wrote a complaint. In his complaint to the Deputy Commissioner of Sibasagar, wrote, "I would like to complain to you that I have come to know that no prior permission was taken from the civil administration or police to organize this motorcycle rally, which is bound to cause considerable inconvenience to common people, including students appearing in the HSLC examination. This will disrupt the concentration of students who are studying for the HSLC examination."
