Assam: BPF gears up for BTC general election, UPPL not factor for BPF

Assam Rajya Sabha MP Biswajit Daimary on June 21^st, 2020, said that the Bodoland Peoples’ Front has pulled its socks to form the BTC council for the fourth consecutive term.

“BPF has changed its gear ahead of the ensuing general election of the council,” Daimary said while adding that UPPL and BJP are not factors for the BPF in the election.

He added that the BJP’s decision to contest the election solely would indirectly help the BPF. “There is no misunderstanding between the BJP and the BPF though the saffron party has decided to contest the election solely,” he said.

The MP, earlier, had said that the BPF would win the BTC general election with an absolute majority. Moreover, the Assam Social Welfare Minister had also expressed confidence about the party’s win in the election.

Besides , at talking about the Assam Health, Education and Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s recent visit to Tamulpur, the MP said, “That was his political visit. We have nothing to comment on that.”

Meanwhile saying that the people of the Bodoland Territorial Region want the BPF, Daimary said, “BJP and Congress are the national political parties. They think on the state and national levels. They do not know the village scene. BPF is the party of the people of the BTR. Development of the people of the region is the only agenda of the party.”

Moreover, speaking about the Tamulpur MLA Emmanuel Mosahary, Daimary said, “He is still the general secretary of the party. He has not resigned from the party yet. It is completely his personal matter whatever he is thinking about that. I don’t think there is anything to comment on that. I have seen any political leader criticising his party without quitting the party for first time. We are waiting for his final decision. We hope he will change his mind and come back to the party since he is still BPF worker.”
