One BSF Jawan killed, another reported missing in Assam

Assam: At least one Border Security Force (BSF) soldier has been killed and another is missing after the vehicle they were traveling in collided and fell into waters in the southern district of Salmara Mankachar, Assam, along the India-Bangladesh border.

According to a BSF statement, three other three jawans were rescued, who were also in the vehicle.

"One of our vehicles, carrying an assistant inspector, 3 ranks and a driver, suddenly lost control while patrolling the border and fell into 20 m deep water", said an officer of the BSF to news agency.

"Three of them have made it to a safer place, of the two missing, one was found dead, but another is still missing," he added.

The search for the missing person is still underway.
