Assam: BSF rescues 34 cattle head; Bangladeshi smuggler apprehended

Guwahati: The Border Security Force (BSF) under Guwahati Frontier on the intervening night of 23 and 24 October apprehended a Bangladeshi cattle smuggler.

The troopers rescued 34 cattle heads from the bordering areas of Coochbehar (West Bengal), and Dhubri and South Salmara (Assam).

On October 23, troops of BSF BOP Jamaldah of 140 Bn BSF under Guwahati Frontier carried out a special operation in Khasbas village inCooch Behar.

The Bangladeshi cattle smuggler was apprehended along with cattle heads, while the cows were being smuggled from India to Bangladesh.

The smuggler has been identified as Jhangir Alam (22) hailing from Lalmunirhat district in Bangladesh.

The smuggler along with cattle heads have been handed over to Mekhliganj Police Station in West Bengal for further legal action.
