GUWAHATI: A team of Border Security Force (BSF) on Tuesday seized drugs from two different operations in Assam and Mizoram worth ₹1.03 crore. The team also apprehended five people in this connection.
Acting on specific information, BSF intelligence team with the troops of its 7th battalion, intercepted a vehicle at the Karimganj-Badarpur junction on National Highway 37, and seized 18,000 Yaba tablets, valued at Rs 90 lakh in the grey market.
The accused have been identified as Ismail Hussain and Md Hussain Ali Mirdha from Barpeta district of Assam.
Both the drug dealers, along with the seized items, were later handed over to the police.

In yet another operation, a joint team of the BSF and Excise and Narcotics department, Aizawl, carried out another operation at Bawnkawn junction in Aizawl and apprehended two drug dealers and seized 359 grams of heroin, valued at Rs 13.05 lakh in the grey market, from their possession.
Both the arrested drug peddlers, F Lalrinmawia (27) and Jerry Lalrammuana, hail from Mizoram.
The team also apprehended a Myanmarese national Lalhre Liana (20) who supplied the consignment of drugs.
All the three drug dealers, along with the seized item, were handed over to the Excise and Narcotics department, Aizawl.
