GUWAHATI: In the five Assam Assembly constituencies where voting was underway, an estimated 69.75 percent  voter turn out was recorded at the close of polling until 5 pm.

Gossaigaon had the highest voter turnout (77.37 percent) as of 5 pm, followed by Thowra (75.07 percent), Bhabanipur (74 percent), Tamulpur (62 percent), and Mariani (62 percent) (61.62 percent ).

Tamulpur LAC, with 2,17,432 electors, is the constituency with the most electors out of the five seats.

Thowra LAC, with 1,15,971 electors, is the constituency with the lowest number of voters.

According to reports, voting has been peaceful so far in all constituencies, with large lines forming outside polling booths, with voters and election officials following Covid-19 rules.

The voting process began at 7am in 1, 176 polling stations in all five constituencies.

A total of 31 candidates in Assam are in the fray and the polling continued till 5 pm.

The counting of vote will take place on November 2, 2021.
