GUWAHATI: The Assam Cabinet has decided to rename Gaoburhas (head of the village) as Gaon Pradhans from now on as well as to allocate 180 bighas of land to Dhalpur Shiv Temple in Darrang district and also to approve the cow protection bill.
"Gao Pradhan is a very respected position and we might find it a little uneasy to address a 25-year-old with that. Hence we have marked 30 years as the minimum age for the Gao Pradhan position and 65 would be the maximum age of a person," said state Information and Public Relation minister Pijush Hazarika addressing a press conference here.
Hazarika also informed that bonafide citizens, not habitual encroachers, fell victim to natural calamities and residing in government lands, which are eligible for allotment, will receive government assistance.

A new state university - Sri Sri Aniruddha Dev Sports University - will be presented in this assembly as well, informed Pijush Hazarika.
