Assam Cabinet urges IT dept to set up mobile towers to enhance rural connectivity

GUWAHATI: The Assam cabinet today took a number of key decisions as instructing the Information Technology department to set up additional mobile towers so as to makes online education more feasible for students residing in the more far-flung areas of the state.

A month's special leave will be given to police forces living in battalions in different stations to stay with their families. Those who live with their family will be given a compulsory leave of ten days.

The Assam Cabinet today decided that the commission of Fair Price Shops for transportation of commodities will be increased from Rs 100.10 per quintal to Rs 143 per quintal.

Moreover, as many as 800 Cooperative Committees will receive a grant worth Rs 5 lakh. Transportation contracts for carrying commodities from FCI godown etc will be given to cooperatives.

As per a Cabinet decision, District Cooperatives will get transportation contract of rice sent to Cooperative and ration shops from DCI.

Meanwhile, MLA Padma Hazarika has been given Cabinet Rank for effectively carrying out the responsibility of utilizing 77,000 bigha lands in Gorukhuti, Sipajhar for agricultural purpose.

Meanwhile, the Cabinet has instriucted the Information and Technology (IT) department to ensure proper network availability so children could use internet for online classes. The department has been directed to set up mobile towers wherever required for easy internet access in all nook and corners of the state.

Cabinet Ministers Atul Bora, Chandramohan Patowary, and Ranuj Pegu have been assigned to ensure that these initiatives are completed within the specified amount of time.
