Teok, February 22, 2020:

Chaos ruled in Assam's Teok (Jorhat district) when All Assam Students' Union (AASU) workers were belted with bricks by Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) supporters for showing black flags to party supremo Atul Bora. However, no one was injured.

On Saturday, Bora and his AGP brethren had congregated at the Kaliapani Lakhsmi Puja Playground for a party meeting when a massive wave of protesters, enraged at the regional party's silence over the amendment of the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, descended on Teok carrying the symbolic black flags of protest.

The protest was headed by over a hundred members of the AASU, Chutia Students' Union, Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chhatra Parishad, among others. Chants such as CAA ami namanu (won't accept CAA) and "Atul Bora go back" were raised loud and clear by the sea of protesters.

Inside Northeast sources have informed that after the protesters confronted Bora's convoy with the ubiquitous black flags, AGP supporters decided to take matters into their own hands. "Atul Bora had come to Teok to take part in a discussion when chaos unraveled on the street...AASU, AJYCP, etc, were protesting when suddenly, AGP workers retaliated with bricks. Thankfully, the bricks missed their mark or else someone could have been seriously injured..", a source informed us.
