Assam CM arrives border, Mizoram counterpart cancels plan

SILCHAR: Mizoram Chief Minister Zoramthanga has canceled his visit to the disputed border area in the Assam-Mizoram border on Tuesday. The Chief Minister was supposed to visit the border to take stock of the ongoing tension. According to sources, the PSO of the Chief Minister has been tested Covid positive leading to the cancellation of the plan.

Meanwhile, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has reached Lailapur in Cachar district where six police personnel lost lives in a clash with its Meghalaya counterpart. He is accompanied by GP Singh, Special Director General of Police.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pijush Hazarika has already arrived in the disputed area on Monday night. Meanwhile, a prayer meeting was held on Tuesday in the office of the Silchar Superintendent of Police where the Assam Chief Minister paid tribute to the deceased.  Notably, Cachar SP Nimbalkar Vaibhav Chandrakant has also got bullet injury in the clash with Mizo Police.

Apart from the police, a civilian has also lost life in the clash. As per sources, five persons have been admitted to Silchar Medical College & Hospital in a very critical condition.
