GUWAHATI: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma inaugurated the newly constructed flyover on Thursday at the Dispur Supermarket area and urged people to not spit on it.
Talking about the inauguration, the Chief Minister said that the flyover is now open for the general public and people now will get some relief from the traffic.
"I am delighted that we could make the operational on the occasion of Diwali and is now open for the public", he said.
He added that the bridge will lead to hassle-free traffic movement for public.
Speaking further, the Chief Minister requested everyone to not spit on the bridge.
The flyover is aimed at reducing congestion at Supermarket by diverting traffic from Ganeshguri to Last Gate.
The 1205 metre flyover constructed at a cost of Rs. 127.20 crore has been completed in 36 months.
"Glad to inaugurate the new ₹127-cr flyover at Dispur-Supermarket in Guwahati which is expected to significantly reduce traffic snarls in the area. Completion of the work in 22 months against scheduled 36 months reflects our Govt's utmost effort to speed up infrastructure growth", tweeted the CM.
