GUWAHATI: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma took part in the cycle rally organized to support and motivate ace boxer Lovlina Borgohain who is representing the country in the Tokyo Olympics.
Lovlina is the sole contender from the state who sealed her spot in the grand event.
Speaking on the occasion, he extended gratitude to everyone who participated in the cycle rally that took off
"With a vision to support & motivate 'Assam's daughter' ace boxer Lovlina Borgohain who is representing India at the launched a goodwill campaign 'Go For Glory, Lovlina which started with a bicycle rally at Guwahati", said the Chief Minister.
He also felicitated Lovlina's father Tiken Borgohain on the occasion.

Assembly Speaker Biswajit Daimary, Deputy Speaker of Assam Legislative Assembly Dr Numal Momin MD, Minister of Agriculture Atul Bora, Minister UG Brahma, Minister for Water Resources, Information and Public Relations department Pijush Hazarika and others also took part in the ‘Go For Glory, Lovlina’ cycle rally.

May you continue to bring glories to the nation".Earlier on Tuesday, Congress leader Debabrata Saikia, proposed in the assembly to make her the brand ambassador of the state.
Lovlina secured the spot for Summer Games by defeating Uzbekistan’s Maftunakhon Melieva 5-0 in the Asian Olympic qualifiers women’s welterweight (69 kg category) in the quarterfinals.
Beyond the ring, Lovlina also gave a tough fight to the deadly virus after she got infected by COVID-19. However she had to miss the Sports Authority of India’s (SAI) sanctioned 52-day Europe tour for 16 elite Indian boxers due to her ailment.
She is the first woman boxer from the state to qualify for the Tokyo Olympics. Also she is the second boxer after Shiva Thapa to represent the country in boxing.
