Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal met with the Chief Executive Members (CEM) of six autonomous councils of the state. According to an official statement, CM emphasised on the need to preserve the culture and heritage of tribal people during the meeting. Sonowal called on the council heads of the six councils namely, Thengal Kachari Autonomous Council, Mishing Autonomous Council, Sonowal Kachari Autonomous Council, Rabha Hasong Autonomous Council, Tiwa Autonomous Council and Deori Autonomous Council to work for the promotion of folk traditions.

The Sahodar Sammanway Kshetra, which will soon be constructed near Rani would provide an integrated platform to showcase the vivid cultural resources of the tribal societies to visitors, said Sonowal. The government would be building Ekata Bhawan at Sadiya for congregation and cultural exchanges between the tribes of the state, he added.

CM urged the six councils to identify land and invite potential investors for setting up organic industries. The autonomous councils must take advantage of this "positive environment" and extend all facilities to investors; he added referring to Advantage Assam.

Speaking to INSIDENE, Dy. Chief Executive Councilor Sukreswar Gayari welcoming the Chief Minister’s initiative said that it would help the tribal communities gain popularity in the national and international arena.
