Assam CM orders deduction of pending electricity bills from govt employees' salary

GUWAHATI: Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has ordered the deduction of pending electricity bills from the government employees' salaries, if the employees have any long due of electricity bills from their side, today in here.

CM Sarma has taken stock of the three companies - APDCL, AEGCL, and APGCL - from Power Minister Bimal Bora today.

Samir Sinha, Principal Secretary of Finance, has been instructed to convert all the loans and interests these above-mentioned three companies have received from the Assam government till March 21, 2021, into shares so that these companies can earn from their profit against their shares.

CM Sarma had taken many stringent decisions for the ministry to abide by including the decision of deducting bills from government employees' salaries in case of any long overdue from their side.

Furthermore, Sarma has urged for the declaration of all the police stations as APDCL police station to lodge complaints against electricity theft.

To construct a developed billing system and to reduce the companies lost, CM Sarma has ordered a database including 63 lakh beneficiaries' names, contact details, etc.

CM Sarma has advised that these companies should follow the Gujarat-like infrastructure so as to become profit-earning institutions.
