All Assam Students' Union (AASU) Chief Advisor Samujjal Bhattacharya on Sunday taking a jibe at Assam's BJP leaders Sarbananda Sonowal and Himanta Biswa Sarma, said that they should make provisions to transfer illegal migrants to Gujarat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi's state.

Addressing a massive gathering at the Concert for Peace and Harmony that was organized by leading artistes of the State to collectively voice their resentment, the AASU leader also opined that the fight against the controversial legislation has taken a legal turn.
Condemning the Assam State Government and Sarbananda Sonowal's statement in which he had proclaimed that Assam only has a "few" foreigners, Bhattacharya issued a warning that Assam would not accept a single foreigner. "As per the stipulations of the Assam Accord, we took the load of foreigners from 1951 through 1971, and now, we refuse to accept a single foreigner -- be it Hindu or Muslim", Bhattacharya said.

The AASU leader also said that in Tura of Meghalaya, massive protests have been launched by student bodies against the controversial legislation. He also said that the Khasi Students' Union in Meghalaya and the Naga Students' Federation are also staging massive protests against the Bill.
It may be mentioned here that the resentment over the Citizenship (Amendment) Act has reached fever pitch in Assam, which has not received any legal or Constitutional safeguards from the Bill. However, the areas under ILP regime and impacted by the 6th Schedule of the Constitution shall not be affected. This has led to widespread concern in Assam, as the people find themselves grappling with the question -- if the Bill is bad for the tribal-majority States and the Autonoumous Council states, how can it be good for Assam?
