Assam CM Sonowal and Union Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju to Attend Closing Event of 'Khelo India'

Guwahati, January 19, 2020:

Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and Union Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju will be gracing the closing ceremony of the third edition of the Khelo India Youth Games 2020 in Guwahati.

The CM will attend the closing ceremony as the Chief Guest and he will be accompanied by the Sports Minister, informed the CEO of the Youth Games, Avinash Joshi.

The ceremony will be held at the Sarusajai Sports complex of Guwahati on January 22. “We are expecting a number of dignitaries to attend the closing ceremony. The closing ceremony will witness celebrities from Bollywood and Assam and a group from China will perform Chinese martial arts,” he said.

The CEO added that a special arrangement has been made for people to enjoy a stadium-like experience. “We have made an exclusive arrangement of a 32 feet by 16 feet LED screen, where the closing ceremony will be broadcasted. We encourage youngsters to come and watch the closing ceremony on the screen to enjoy a stadium-like experience. The entry will be free for everyone,” he informed.

The organizers of the Khelo India Youth Games are focused on conserving the environment, along with hosting various sporting events successfully. “We have minimized the use of single-use plastic and ensured the responsible disposal of plastic materials. We have successfully carried out plastic waste management during the tournament,” Joshi explained.

It may be mentioned here that the Khelo India Youth Games 2020 were held with the aim to provide yet another platform for young athletes to showcase their love for sports.
