The All Assam Minority Students’ Union (AAMSU) has alleged that Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal, who is also holding additional charge of the Home department in the state, has miserably failed in ensuring safety of the minority people. The students’ union strongly demanded the state government led by Sonowal to stop atrocities and murder of minority people in Bodoland Territorial Autonomous Districts region.
The Kokrajhar unit of the AAMSU on Thursday staged a two hour sit in demonstration wearing black badges at Fakiragram in protest against the atrocities and murder of innocent minority people in the BTAD.
It may be mentioned that at least five minority people were murdered by unknown miscreants in the BTAD in last five months. AAMSU stated that chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal who is in-charge of the Home department has totally failed to ensure safety of the innocent minority people in the region. AAMSU strongly condemned the atrocities on innocent minority people and urged the state government to take stringent measures to check the occurrence of such incidents.
A memorandum was submitted to chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal through the Deputy Commissioner of Kokrajhar urging safety of life and property of the minority people staying in the region. AAMSU also demanded to strictly curb the growing menace of illegal arms in the BTAD region.
Organising secretary of AAMSU (central committee) Anowar Hussain slammed the BJP led state government for failing in ensuring peace and tranquility in the region. He said that the minority people have been staying in fear due to the growing atrocities on them.
