Amid the continuing protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act that have been raging across Assam, the state Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal could be seen enjoying a game of cricket during the inauguration of the TG Baruah Memorial T20 Cricket Tournament.
Taking charge in front of the wicket, the Chief Minister could be seen whacking quite a few balls, presumably to the fence.

The CM later took to Twitter, where he shared a video of the inauguration, along with the caption, "Tried a few shots at inauguration of the 7th TG Baruah Memorial Media T20 Cricket Tournament 2020 at Judges' Field, Guwahati. Cricket has always been one of my favourite sports and taking to the field reminded me of my college days."
Meanwhile, protests against the 'CAA' to rage across the length and breadth of Assam, and the Chief Minister has also had to face the wrath of protesters on a frequent basis.
Today, irate protesters crashed a Sonowal ceremony in Jorhat, where they showed him black flags.
An anti-Citizenship (Amendment) Act protester waved a ‘black flag’ at Sonowal as a mark of protest during a Cinnamora tea estate 'Shramik Samaroh' organized at Jorhat.
The anti-CAA activist turned up with a black flag in his hand at the front row close to the barricades during CM Sonowal’s presence.
It is to be mentioned here that it has become quite common for the Chief Minister to be confronted by anti-CAA protesters. On December 28, the Chief Minister was shown black flags by All Assam Students’ Activists (AASU) in Rangia town.
