Assam Congress on June 27th, 2020 accused the Bharatiya Janata Party-led state government of declaring the complete lockdown in Guwahati without any ‘proper planning’ which resulted chaos everywhere.
“Government’s declaration of complete lockdown for 14 days from June 28th, 2020 is unplanned. We condemn it. It has created chaos everywhere. People went for panic buying. Shops and markets were closed early in the evening in the city,” Assam Congress president Ripun Bora stated.
Coming down heavily on the Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Bora said, “Himanta Biswa Sarma has money. He can buy food materials at a time for 14 days. But, how will a poor person, a daily wager or a rickshaw puller manage food for 14 days?”
