Assam Congress MLA Sherman Ali arrested for provocative remarks

GUWAHATI: Assam Congress MLA Sherman Ali has been arrested today evening by the city police in Guwahati for his provocative remarks on killing of eight Assamese in Darrang district in 1983. Alia has now been taken to Dispur police station.

The Congress Baghbor constituency MLA has been arrested from Dispur MLA hostel.

The Congress party had served a show cause notice to the MLA for his remark on the martyrs of Assam Agitation.

It is noteworthy to mention that MLA Sherman Ali earlier claimed that Dayanath Sarma and eight others were not martyrs, rather they were killers.

Since the questionable remark by Ali, Police complaints have already been filed against MLA
