Assam: Congress MLA Sherman Ali suspended from party for violating party discipline

GUWAHATI: APCC President Bhupen Kumar Borah today suspended MLA Sherman Ali from the Congress Party with immediate effect. Ali has been suspended for violating party displine, an official statement said.

GUWAHATI: APCC President Bhupen Kumar Borah today suspended MLA Sherman Ali from the Congress Party with immediate effect. Ali has been suspended for violating party displine, an official statement said.

On Sunday, ACLP, of which Ahmed was a member, had recommended APCC to take disciplinary action again Sherman Ali Ahmed.

Earlier on October 2, MLA Sherman Ali was arrested by the city police in Guwahati for his provocative remarks on killing of eight Assamese in Darrang district in 1983.

It is noteworthy to mention that MLA Sherman Ali earlier claimed that Dayanath Sarma and eight others were not martyrs, rather they were killers.

Since the questionable remark by Ali, Police complaints have already been filed against MLA.
