As the nomination paper filing process of the Panchayat elections in Assam ends, it has been alleged that candidature ticket from the Congress were sold for Rs 10 lakh in Bongaigaon.
A source said, “As per AICC persident Rahul Gandhi, 35 per cent of Youth Congress leaders should get candidature tickets. Following this, many youth leaders applied for the ticket.”
The source added that among the applicants, one was the Bongaigaon district Youth Congress president Mukibul Islam. He was assured the party ticket but he was then approached by legislator Abdul Hai Nagori’s son-in-law through phone.
Nagori’s son-in-law allegedly asked Mukibul to pay Rs 10 lakh for the ticket.
In a phone call, Mukibul was herd asking for some time from him and the other person allegedly told him to deal with present Assam Youth Congress president Kamrul Islam Choudhury.
Later it was also alleged that since Mukibul was unable to pay the demanded money, the candidature ticket was given to someone else. Mukibul who was served the Congress for more that 15 years was supposed to participate as the president of the ZPC.
