The assets of the candidates who will contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in Assam, have been officially been declared by Election Watchdog 'Association for Democratic Reforms' (ADR).
According to the report, there are 3 (15%) candidates who have declared criminal cases against themselves. Out of these, 2 have declared serious criminal cases against
themselves.

The average assets per candidate contesting in the bye election from Assam is Rs. 42.82 lakhs, and 4 candidates (20%) are crorepatis. Moreover, there are 7 candidates who have declared liabilities.
From Jania in Barpeta, Shamsul Hoque of the Congress is the richest candidate with assets of Rs. 75,96,160. Towfiqur Rahman, with assets of Rs 61,14,716 is the second richest. Abdul Jalil Talukdar is worth Rs 35,90,000.

In Tezpur's Rangapara Assembly Constituency, Rajen Borthakur of the BJP is the richest and has assets worth Rs 1,48,26,951, while Kartik Kurmi of the Congress has assets worth Rs 1,02,79,349.
In Karimganj's Ratabari (SC) Constituency, Keshab Prasad Rajak of Congress has assets worth Rs 69,92,616. Bijoy Malakar of the BJP has assets worth Rs 23,54,621.
In the Sonari election, Sushil Kumar Suri has assets worth Rs 1,44,91,861, while Nabanita
Handique of the BJP has assets worth 1,13,78,459.
