Assam detected 2,179 new coronavirus cases on Wednesday 26th August 2020, the state Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma informed. Since the first coronavirus case was detected, Assam has registered 96,771 cases.
A total of 36,225 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours. The positivity rate stood at 6.01 percent. Of the 2,179 confirmed cases, maximum cases were from Kamrup M- 531, Dibrugarh- 152, Cachar- 136, Jorhat- 134, Kamrup R- 122.

On the other hand, with 2,148 new recoveries, a total of 76,962 patients have so far discharged from different hospitals in the state.

Meanwhile, the death toll has gone up to 274 with fourteen new deaths.
Assam successfully completed 20 lakh tests over the past five months, taking Assam’s per million tests to 58,356 on Tuesday, 25th August.
