GUWAHATI: Assam has crossed the two crore mark of vaccination of its eligible citizens today against COVID-19.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma took to Twitter and shared the news.

"Proud to inform that Assam has achieved the milestone of 2 Cr vaccination against #Covid_19 today. Congratulations to all Heath workers for this important landmark @mansukhmandviya," wrote Sarma.

Now as many as 2,00,02,565 of the 18+ age group of the state are vaccinated with at least the first dose of the cOVID-19 vaccines.

Out of 2 crores, over 1.6 crore population were administered with at least first dose of COVID-19 vaccines whereas only 36,70,669 people are completely vaccinated. 2,498 doses were administered today itself.

Recently, in a high-level review meeting with the union health ministry, it was revealed that the vaccination for the 60+ age group in Assam is not satisfactory and too much focus on the first dose has outpaced the process of complete vaccination especially for the 60+ age group citizens.

Assam has registered 396 new cases of COVID-19 over the last 24 hours pushing the state tally up to 594,347.

During the period 596 people were discharged and five persons succumbed to the virus.

The state currently has 4,682 active caseloads.
