GUWAHATI: The Assam government on Tuesday announced fresh SOPs for the containment of COVID-19 in the state.
Addressing the media, Assam Health Minister Keshab Mahanta informed that the curfew timing in Kamrup (M) district has been reduced from 1 pm to 2 pm. The curfew will continue till 5 am in the morning. The decision was taken considering the reduction in the positivity rate of the city.
Shops will be closed one hour prior to the beginning of the curfew, stated the Health Minister.

Eight districts including Bongaigaon, Chirang, Karbi Anglong, Udalguri, South Salmara, Dima Hasao, Charaideo, Majuli will have a 12-hour curfew starting from 5pm to 5 am.
The minister further informed that no inter-district movement will be allowed till June 22.
He also directed the employees to attend the office who have taken both doses of the COVID vaccine.
He further stated cases are rapidly increasing in 5 districts of the state including Cachar, Tinsukia, Dibrugarh, Sonitpur, and Nagaon cases increased. These districts will be under strict surveillance. If cases do not show any downward trend by June 21, there is also a possibility of total lockdown, said the Health Minister.
The rest of the districts will operate on the guidelines issued earlier.
Restaurants and hotels will operate at the same timings issued earlier. All Religious places across Assam to stay shut till June 22.
