Assam: Deshi Organisation demands preservation of historic Panbari Masjid

DHUBRI: The Central Committee of Deshi Janagoshthiyo Mancha (DJM), Assam on Wednesday demanded preservation of historic Panbari Masjid and its properties from encroachment and proper investigation on the accounts of the Mugal era mosque.

Addressing the press the members of the organization criticized other organizations, in recent times who have organized rallies in the premises of the historic Nababi Masjid. The Deshi body stated that the ongoing events about the historic Panbari Masjid is condemned by the Deshi Janagoshthiyo Mancha, Assam and their youth wing as it has selfish interests of some people.

“We have visited the entire Panbari area and we have seen that a lot of area in that Panbari Masjid premises which are under encroachments”, saids President, DJM, Sheikh Hedayetullah. He also added, “We also believe that the crores of money that the historic Masjid gets in the form of donations is being misappropriated by the committee members of the Masjid Management Committee”.

The organization demanded strong enquiry in this regard and stated that organizing protest rallies in the Masjid premises for selfish needs and then getting managed within one day will not be accepted by any Deshi people.
