In a tweet that he shared on his official Twitter handle, the DGP said, “Shri Ratul Gogoi's kind gesture has made all of us proud and will surely inspire others. It embodies the selfless spirit of service embraced by the @assampolice. To honor his act of kindness, we've decided to felicitate him with a cash award of Rs 10,000.”
It may be mentioned here that Ratul Gogoi, an Assam Police cop (No 1 battalion, Assam Police) serves in Nitaipukhuri Police outpost. A video of Gogoi distributing pens to the students went viral on Thursday and prominent journalist Anupam Bordoloi, posting the video on Twitter, wrote, “An Assam Police jawan Ratul Gogoi has won hearts after he was seen distributing pens as a good luck gesture to students appearing for their class 12 final exams.”
Despite having an AK rifle slung over his back, the policemen was spreading the message of peace, charity, and development through literacy and education — all through this single great symbolic gesture.
